The structure of S. W. Sardinia is characterized by thrusting and disharmonic folding. All tectonic elements are extremely variable in the direction of strike. The “s” cleavage is probably generated by simple shear. There are not sufficient data to postulate an E-W striking “sardic phase” with (slaty) cleavage.
